1. Crawl below the rear of your Rendezvous and find the rear exhaust pipe and muffler hanger. Lubricate the rubber isolator on the hanger by spraying it with penetrating fluid. Maintain the muffler up with one hand. Pry the rubber isolator off the hanger bracket with a pair of exhaust-hanger removing pliers with the other hand. Decrease the muffler slowly in order that it hangs down from the undercarriage in order to not impede the set up of the trailer hitch.
2. Find the two slots in the rearward end of the underside of each body rail. Route the fish wire that came with the trailer hitch set up hardware up through the rearward slot on one of the body rails. Route the wire by the body and out the forward slot within the rail. Ensure the coiled finish of the fish wire hangs down by the rearward slot.
3. Place the opening in a bolt block — included with the trailer hitch installation hardware — over the threads of one of the trailer hitch-mounting bolts. Thread the bolt onto the coiled end of the fish wire. Pull the other end of the fish wire by means of the frame so that threads protrude by means of the ahead slot in the body rail. Repeat the procedure to put in another bolt and block in the opposite frame rail.
4. Insert the two remaining bolts and bolts blocks into the rearward slots within the body rails. Make sure the bolt blocks rest flat on the within of the frame rail and don’t interfere with the bolt blocks mounted on the bolts in the forward slots.
5. Raise the trailer hitch into place underneath the vehicle. Line up the vertical holes in the trailer hitch-mounting flanges with the bolts installed in the body rails. Do to not push the bolts into the body rails. Make sure the vertical mounting tabs on the lower finish of the trailer hitch make contact with the ahead facet of the sheet-metallic finish panel of the vehicle. Place lock washers and nuts over every bolt and tighten them finger-tight.
6. Drill into the car finish panel with a 3/8 inch drill bit put in into an influence drill by means of every of the four holes — two per aspect — within the vertical mounting tab on the hitch. Place flat washers over the four remaining hitch-mounting bolts. Insert the bolts via the drilled holes within the rear side of the tip panel and through the hitch mounting tab holes. Place lock washers and nuts over the bolts and tighten them finger-tight.
7. Tighten all eight trailer hitch-mounting bolts and nuts with a torque wrench to the tightness specified by the hitch producer — normally 20 to one hundred twenty foot-pounds, depending on the diameter of the bolts provided with the hitch.
8. Raise the muffler with one hand. Work the rubber isolator over the lip in the hanger bracket with the exhaust hanger removal pliers. Launch the muffler.
